Environmental printing

FSC and PEFC
Gpex is committed and fully supports those responsible forest management practices that both protect biodiversity and ecosystem integrity and result in long-term social and economic benefits to human communities.

PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes)
The PEFC Council is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation, founded in 1999 which promotes sustainably managed forests through independent third party certification.

The PEFC provides an assurance mechanism to purchasers of wood and paper products that they are promoting the sustainable management of forests.

FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)
FSC provides global standards for forest management which cover a balance of environmental, social and economic aspects. The wellbeing of forest communities and ecosystems is as important as replacing trees in ensuring the future of the world's forests. The FSC system also provides a way of tracking forest products through independently verified Chain of Custody certification. This has to cover every stage in processing, conversion, distribution and printing before the final product can carry the FSC label.

Two sides
We support the campaign to dispell some of the myths surrounding the use of paper and its environmental impact.

What else do we do:

  • Use of chemicals – We utilise the latest Kodak Chemistry and are working with Kodak on the latest processless plates which don't require any chemical baths.
  • We use automated presses with CIP3 technology which reduces the amount of waste involved with setting up a print run.
  • We use the most appropriate press for your job which in turn reduces waste.

Vegetable based inks

All our litho inks are vegetable oil based rather than mineral oil based. This means that there is less impact on non-renewable resources. Inks are sourced from environmentally sound suppliers and are of a high quality.
